Russo’s Pet Centers Veterinary Procedures

Russo’s is dedicated to providing customers with the highest quality companion pets. Our pets are supplied by champion breeders, registered with American Professional Pet Distributors Inc. (APPDI). Our breeders facilities are immaculate and pets well cared for. This distinguishes us from the cliche’ “Puppy Mill”. We are also quite aware of breed related conditions that may exist, as well as the possibility of illnesses or diseases occurring within any pet. In the unlikely event that this should occur, Russo’s requires you adhere to the following guidelines in order to receive compensation due you according to the California

  Protection Act ;

  (California codes health and safety code section 122125-122220)

  • Russo’s will exercise a second opinion in the event that your pet should require surgery. Russo’s will not be liable for any surgeries BEFORE this right has been exercised ( except in the event of a life of death situation).
  • For you to be compensated for reasonable veterinarian fees, Russo’s requires that we be contacted immediately so that an appointment can be arranged with a cooperating veterinary facility so as not to incur unreasonable or excessive veterinary fees.
  • Any veterinarians’ letter, estimate or bill that is not presented to us within 5 (five) days of the purchaser learning of a problem will cause the purchaser to forfeit their right to any compensation according to the California Pet Protection Act.

Medical and health care disclosure

In accordance with Russo’s high standards of pet care and examinations, and, according to regular veterinary examination required by California State law, this pet is free of any known disease, illness, congenital or hereditary conditions that could, in any way, affect the health of this pet. We will provide a document with every pet co-signed by Russo’s and the purchaser. This document will state that “Russo’s has revealed a professional and accurate health record of this pet as well as other important information required by california law, and that this has been communicated to the purchaser orally as well as in written form.

If the purchaser is making a claim, the seller must be given a written veterinary statement, in a form prescribed by law, that the animal is unfit for purchase and an initialized statement of all veterinary fees related to this claim. This information must be presented to the seller no later than 5 (five) days after the written statement from the veterinarian is received by the purchaser. In the event that the seller wishes to contest the statement or the veterinarian’s bill, the seller may request that the dog or cat be produced for examination by a licensed veterinarian of the sellers choice. In the event of death, the deceased dog or cat need not be returned to the seller if the purchaser presents a statement issued by a licensed veterinarian stating the cause of death. If the parties cannot resolve the claim within 10 (ten) business days following the receipt of the veterinarian statement or the examination by the seller’s veterinarian,whichever event occurs later, the purchaser may file an action in a court of competent jurisdiction to resolve the dispute. If a party acts in bad faith, the other party may collect reasonable attorney’s fees. If the pet dealer does not contest the matter, the pet dealer must make a refund or reimbursement no later than 10 (ten) business days after receiving the veterinary certification. If the seller has represented the purchaser’s dog or cat as registrable with a pedigree organization, the seller shall provide the purchaser with the necessary papers to process the registration within 120 days following the date you receive the dog or cat. If the seller fails to deliver the papers within the prescribed time frame, the purchaser is entitled to return the dog or cat for a full refund of the purchase price, including the sales tax, or a refund of 75 percent of the purchase price, including sales tax if the purchaser chooses to keep the dog or cat.
